Ductless Mini Splits

Few things are more important in a home than the ability to keep it cool during the summer. Beyond comfort, maintaining a safe, healthy indoor environment is a big part of keeping your family in good health all year long.

Fortunately there are quite a few cooling system options on the market today. Some of the best units currently available are ductless split systems. Ductless AC provides a great level of control over your indoor environment, and they do it both efficiently and economically.

Purchasing a new cooling system for your home is always a big undertaking. That’s why it’s a good idea to consult a professional whenever it’s time to make a change to your comfort system. Basnett Plumbing, Heating & AC is your best bet for reliable expert service and advice in the MetroWest area. We regularly install and service ductless split systems and we’re always glad to take on new projects and help you make your home a more comfortable place.

How a Ductless System Works

Ductless air conditioning systems are so named because, unlike most air conditioning systems, they don’t rely on air ducts to circulate the air throughout the house.

Instead, a ductless system is made up of an outdoor compressor and one or more indoor units that manage the temperature in specific areas of the home. These indoor units are connected to the outdoor unit with a refrigerant line that carries coolant to them. The indoor units then take in air from the room or area of the house, cool it, and then recirculate it.

Ductless Systems Provide Superior Temperature Control

One advantage to having a ductless cooling system in your home is that each indoor unit is controlled independently of the others. That means that you can turn it on for an area of the house that is being used at any given moment and leave the units in unused parts of the house off. You’ll save a ton of money this way, as you won’t have to pay to keep your entire house cool to enjoy the right temperature in the area you’re occupying.

Ductless Split Installation

Ductless split systems are also advantageous because of the relative ease of installation. Were you to install a regular central air conditioning system, you would need air ducts installed as well. This is both costly and disruptive. However, the refrigerant lines that ductless systems use are much easier and cheaper to install. And they have the added advantage of being able to reach many areas of your home that are inaccessible to ducts.
