“I would not recommend Basnett for HVAC work.

During the cold snap two weeks ago, we lost power. When power was restored, the hvac furnace would not go on. Our regular service person was away so we called Basnett.

The first technician determined the control board needed replacement along with a transformer. He also said to replace the thermostat. When he returned a few days later, he replaced the board and the transformer(expensive fix) but did not have the thermostat. He also kept blowing a fuse on the furnace. He guessed that a wiring problem was the issue. He was also going to charge $350 for a thermostat install.

So for a third visit, a different technician who specialized in electrical came out. We were assessed another service fee. He suggested replacing the thermostat wire to the tune of $450. We stopped the work and asked for a second opinion from our regular person.

After our regular service person looked at things, the furnace is working. No new thermostat wire was needed. Just some fine tuning and tightening of loose screws. I am now wondering if the control board was necessary. Long story short….if you have HVAC problems, call a company that specializes in HVAC (instead of a one stop shop for everything).

We were very dissatisfied.”
